It will not autofocus. I can take a picture in MF vs AF but in AF it wont let me zoom and trys to focus over and over. Issue is it worked one day and then the next would not. I have another lens a 55-250mm that works so I dont think it is the camera..
The Canon 18-55mm IS II is a tiny plastic kit lens that works very well. Autofocus. Performance top. Autofocus is fast enough, but uses a noisy little motor. It's not silent. Manual Focus. performance top. Manual focus is goofy; you have to move the switch on the lens to MF and then turn the thin little front section of the lens. Distortion
That is exactly right. My brother gave a replacement lens. Perhaps I can scavenge a part off of it. I would just use his but it's not an ultrasonic lens. The original 2009 EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS had a micro-motor autofocusing mechanism. AF should always be disengaged before attempting to manually focus any micro-motor lens. Not disengaging autofocus by sliding the AF/MF switch to MF (manual focus) before turning the manual focus ring can damage the lens focusing mechanism.
I have an 18-55 IS II. It won't autofocus at all. I can't hear the gears running, as if the lens doesn't know that it's on autofocus mode. I've also tried this on the 55-250, and the 50mm f1.8, but those lenses are able to autofocus well. I've opened my lens and checked the gears, but all the gears
I have 18-55 efs lens and having some focus issues. While taking photo on Af mode lens is focusing with turning the focus ring to left direction and shooting okay, however if for focusing turning of focus ring to the left is required lens is not responding, so motor is working one way only.. All directions are while shooting position.
